 7th October

Elaine's Quilts

Monday 7th was a busy productive day for the group.  Before the main meeting a few members emptied out our cupboard and sorted through items left for the sales table that had been there for some time.

The modified bunting was unfurled, showing we could now show off our existing name.

The highlight of the day was Elaine’s talk about her beautiful quilts.

They ranged from a small square, lap quilts, child quilts to an extra large, there was even one made from 2721 pieces using up waste fabric.

Elaine explained her ideas behind the quilts; the stories behind them - the log cabin and the children’s quilts; the techniques she uses; colour combinations; quilting designs; and embellishments.  During lock down feeling a need to make a quilt and not able to get out to select fabric she wanted, Elaine had to bring her secret stash out of hiding.

Elaine had made a number of hangings, cushions, quillow, pictures, bags, jacket.

Thank you Elaine for a really enjoyable afternoon.  The time just flew by.
