 Monday 12th May

Visit to Empress Mills, Colne

On Monday 12th May members and friends had an enjoyable day on our visit to Empress Mills instead of our usual meeting at Higham village hall.  We did not have any difficulty parking near the venue.

Christine Driver gave a short introduction to the mill and its contents.  She spoke about all the different interfacings and stabilisers they stocked.  It is amazing what can now be achieved with all the different weights of Vilene.   All the stock on the shelves is now fully recorded from the moment it enters the premises, making it easy for staff to find items for their very busy online business locating the item on its shelf as well as helping visiting customers find what they need.  Charles was on hand to add more information and help. 

We all had a cup of tea before browsing the shelves.  Val kindly took a tin of biscuits for the staff at the Mill to thank them for their hospitality.  

Some suitable fabric was selected for our banner – it was a teal coloured lightweight canvas.  This will show off all our squares to perfection. I am sure we are all looking forward to seeing the final result.   

The shelves were stocked with all sorts of goodies we could not manage without.  Did we manage to reign in our spending?  We may find out at our next meeting.
