SATURDAY 13th JUNE

‘HOUSE ON THE HILL’  with Rachael Singleton

What a wonderful day 13 of the members enjoyed at the workshop ‘Up the Hill’ prepared by Rachael Singleton.  It was the second meeting for some of the members and Val was fortunate to attend her workshop at Bolton as well.  Rachael is not holding this one again, but she has lots of other workshops to offer.

Rachel had prepared lots of things for the group and after the introduction everyone was soon under way.    It was a great day of painting, preparing, ironing, sewing, and surprise, surprise every house was different.

May thinks go to Kathryn who brought the sewing machines, irons and paints and prepared the room in advance.  What would the group do without her?

One member had a birthday and made a lovely, delicious cake, then had to put up with a round of singing!

Everyone will be looking forward to seeing the completed houses at the July meeting as well as seeing everyone’s Zentangle inspired entry tor the Bell Trophy.

A happy group of crafters

MONDAY 3rd JUNE

Bokhara Couching

with Val

Before the workshop started at 2 o'clock  Kathryn told us the programme for our next year, starting in September was filling up nicely.  We had to decide if we could afford to have a speaker coming a long way with the cost of travel when we are a small group.  It was agreed to go ahead.

Our 'Show and Tell Table'   with items finished from previous meetings

Thanks to Val we had a workshop for our meeting.  Bokhara Couching to put into a greetings card.  She told us about how she had seen it in Uzbekistan.  It is used to cover large areas on tapestries and wall hangings.  It dates from  14th and 15th  centuries in the country,   travel down the silk route to Europe.

Bokhara’s couching stitches form a short diagonal line across the laid thread; when worked across a motif they line up to form diagonal lines.

During our workshop we all paused while Kathryn presented Brenda with flowers as big thank you for all the years she has run the sales table raising money for group funds.   Kathryn described her as a 'tour de force'. running and curating the goodies brought for sale.  Without her and our dear friend Eileen the group would have a lot less funds.  A big thank you from all of us,

We all had an enjoyable afternoon and thank you to Val who stepped in at the last minute and made it an enjoyable day.  Now we will all have to bring our completed card to the July meeting together with our entries for the annual Bell Trophy.
