Monday 15th May
Although our May meeting was rather small, no doubt because
of the two bank holidays, we were thrilled to welcome Rachael Singleton who
brought along pieces of her work as well as giving us a most interesting talk
about her work and the inspiration she gets from the walks around her home in
West Yorkshire.
She gave lots of tips – including creating the right environment for ideas, realise we all make mistakes and they can often be useful in the process of making. One of her words was ‘curiosity’. Find out more, take risks with your work.
She had made a range of various sized pots including some small stitch pots. We learned about teabag paper and some of the many ways of using it in mixed media work. From drying out used tea bags to buying sheets of the unused paper. I think most of us went home with lots of ideas about what to do with our old teabags.
Some of her pieces were inspires by stones and pebbles
Thank you Rachael for a most enthralling afternoon - we all went home with lots of ideas swirling around. How many of us will layer our teabag paper, paint and embroider it?
