PLAY DAY - MAKING SILK PAPER

A past member of the group, Joan, gave us all her silk paper making things when she moved house.  We all decided it would be a good idea to hire the Village Hall and just enjoy ourselves 'making'.  No tutor just sharing information we had found from books and looking for information on line.

During the afternoon Joan was able to join us and see what we were doing.

We all went home with lots of samples of silk paper and there was still lots of materials left so we will be able to have another 'play day'  in the future.

Here is an example of what can be done using silk paper -

shaping and styling it into a a bowl.

Maybe a something to do another day?

"Quilts I have made"

a talk by Elizabeth

We started the group meeting as usual with our informal get together and chat.  This meeting one of our members, Elizabeth,  gave us a talk about her patchwork and how she started making some of her beautiful quilts.  As with quite a few of us it all began after being at home with a baby and feeling the need to do something.  She joined a group and it all started from there.

Over the years Elizabeth has made quilts for various occasion and sometimes just because she wanted to.

Elizabeth has a sense of humour and this comes out in some of her quilts especially the one made during covid

We could all remember the feeling of being locked away.

Two very useful bags she made

We were all totally engrossed with the talk.
Thank you Elizabeth for a most interesting afternoon.
